How I Helped My Older Dog Stop Urinating in Bed.
My poodle Haldona will be fifteen years old in August, 2009. She is still very playful and energetic. Two years ago she had a health problem. She was urinating during the daytime or night in the house. She was urinating on my bed, furniture, even sitting on my lap when she was taking a nap or not sleeping. Her urinating problem was getting worse. She was drinking too much water during the day. I walked with her many times throughout the day, but she continued urinating everywhere in the house. The antibiotic which was prescribed by the veterinarian only made it worse. The veterinarian said that “it is very typical and normal for an older dog to have urination problems as they get older”. He suggested to get some dog diapers that she could wear during the day and night to save the hassle of cleaning after her. He said it can get even worse as she gets older. I went to another veterinarian to get a second opinion. After spending much money and trying various medications it did not seem to help at all. Dog diapers are not fun to deal with.
